Oil Skimmers for Ground Water Remediation
More cost effective than pump-and-treat systems, oil skimming removes
hydrocarbon contamination from groundwater without pumps and at the
lowest cost. Oil skimmers can also be used to treat water before filtering,
thus extending the lifespan of the filter.
Oil skimmers surpass traditional systems that involve placing into the
well a bailer, pump, or similar object that lifts contaminated water above
ground for treatment. An oil skimmer eliminates the need to treat the water
by removing only the hydrocarbons from the well.
Abanaki's PetroXtractor belt skimmer is
designed for groundwater remediation via existing monitoring wells, at
depths up to 100 feet, regardless of fluctuating water levels.
Hydrocarbon-attracting belts are specifically designed for each type of
contaminant: diesel, fuel, gasoline, LNAPLs, DNAPLs and heavy weathered
oils.
Other Abanaki oil skimmer models, such as the
Oil Grabber® Model 8 oil skimmer and
Oil Viper tube skimmer, are ideal for use in
trenches and ponds. Solar powered units are available.
